The 10 Largest Airports in the World As Seen From Above

I’ve always loved flying, especially the approach to a new airport from above - the joy of discovering the runway and terminal design for the first time, etc. Below you’ll find interesting aerial photos of the 10 largest airports in the world—largest defined by the number of people passing through each year. These numbers are based on 2011 stats. Which is your favorite? Mine is the last one, number 10, in Hong Kong , which I’m eager to fly into! Also, am I the only one surprised that Atlanta is the busiest airport in the world, clocking 92,365,860 people last year, while JFK isn’t even in the top 10? 1. Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International 2. Beijing Capital International Airport 3. London Heathrow Airport 4. O'Hare International Airport 5. Tokyo International Airport 6. Los Angeles International Airport 7. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport    http://greaterpost.com/documentaries/afghanistan-prison-torture-still-happening-un-says   ...

Nokia Lumia 620 preview: First look

Introduction The Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 give Nokia all the presence they need in the higher WP8 circles, but a smart maneuver has helped HTC emerge as a serious threat in the lower midrange. The Finns, who are obviously having none of that, responded swiftly to the Windows Phone 8S. After all, when the future of the whole company is resting on a single platform, you just can't leave anything to chance. Nokia Lumia 620 official photos The Nokia Lumia 620 has obviously done its homework. Just like the HTC WP 8S, it offers a downclocked dual-core Krait CPU, 512MB of RAM and a styling that's clearly targeting youths. This kind of approach makes a lot of sense - the WP8 definitely needs an awareness boost among younger users and reasonable spenders, if it's going to seriously challenge the dominating smartphone platforms. Nokia Lumia 620 at a glance: General: GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, UMTS 850/900/1900/2100 MHz; HSDPA 21 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76Mbps Form fac...

World Oldest woman Dies in Japan at 115

The world’s oldest woman passed away this week at the age of 115. According to UPI , Koto Okubo die in a nursing home in Japan. Officials are not releasing the cause of her death but it would be fair to assume that she died of natural causes. Okubo, who was born on December 24, 1897 in Kawasaki, Japan, was with her son at the nursing home at the time of her death. Okubo only held the world’s oldest woman title for a few short weeks. She inherited the title after  Dina Manfredini passed away in December . The Huffington Post notes that Okubo’s passing comes just a few weeks from the death of another title holder. Mamie Rearden, the oldest woman in the United States, passed away at the age of 114 on January 5. The world’s oldest title is frequently passed around for obvious reasons. Thankfully, the world’s oldest man ever is still alive and kicking . At nearly 116-years-old Jiroemon Kimura has lived on earth longer than any other man. Read ...

Guinness World Records Crowns World’s Largest Snake, Medusa

Shortly after the release of the 2013 Guinness World Records book, a new record has already slithered its way into the books, with the world’s largest snake in captivity. The new record-breaking snake is a 25 feet and two inch long Reticulated Python named Medusa, who lives at The Edge of Hell attraction in Kansas City, Missouri, reports The Examiner . The Edge of Hell attraction is run by Full Moon Productions and uses Medusa to entertain visitors at the attraction, particularly those afraid of snakes. She is a 350-pound reticulated python who usually sits in a small nook of the attraction coiled up, seemingly enjoying her posh lifestyle. The Daily Mail notes that Medusa’s handler and Edge of Hell general manager, Larry Edgar states that: “We try to keep Medusa well-fed and slightly out of reach as there have been instances with Reticulated Pythons where they’ve had to cut people out of them! We never underestimate that she does always have the upper-hand.” ...

US may leave no troops in Afghanistan beyond 2014

By ROBERT BURNS | Associated Press Associated Press/Musadeq Sadeq, File - FILE - In this July 14, 2011, file photo, U.S. soldiers board a U.S. military plane, as they leave Afghanistan, at the U.S. base in Bagram north of Kabul, Afghanistan. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration says it might leave no troops in Afghanistan after December 2014, an option that defies the Pentagon's view that thousands of troops may be needed to contain al-Qaida and to strengthen Afghan forces. "We wouldn't rule out any option," including zero troops, Ben Rhodes , a White House deputy national security adviser, said Tuesday. "The U.S. does not have an inherent objective of 'X' number of troops in Afghanistan ," Rhodes said. "We have an objective of making sure there is no safe haven for al-Qaida in Afghanistan and making sure that the Afghan government has a security force that is sufficient to ensure the stability of the Afghan governm...

World Ugliest Woman Lizzie

The World’s Skinniest Woman Is American, Eats Junk Food Every 15 Minutes By Brian Moylan on June 30, 2010 at 2:22 AM Congrats, America. We all may be fat, but we’re also home to Lizzie Velasquez, the Texas woman who weighs only 27kg and must eat every 15 minutes to stay alive thanks to a rare condition she’s had since birth. For some reason Velasquez, a 20-year-old communications student, has become a media sensation in Britain, which has covered her story extensively in recent days. Velasquez suffers from Neonatal Progeroid Syndrome, “which causes accelerated ageing, fat loss from the face and body and tissue degeneration”. She’s only one of three people in the world who has the condition. And one of its effects is that she can’t gain weight. Now she consumes between 5000-8000 calories a day and still can’t gain a pound. “I eat small portions of crisps, sweets, chocolate, pizza, chicken, cake, doughnuts, ice cream, noodles and pop tarts all day long,” she tells...
